Messages from October 2022
Our Annual Remembrance Service
Today is our annual Remembrance Service, where we ask congregants to bring in photos and other remembrances from lost loved ones. We also hear from Beth about her travels to Mexico, and witnessing many Dia de Muertos traditions.
The Idol of Busy
In today’s message, Rev. Lee talks about the tendency for us to look upon moments of rest as indulgence, rather than a necessary part of life. She shares a parable about a fisherman and a business executive meeting, and talking about their daily schedules.
The Idol of Whiteness
Ministerial Intern, Beth Monhollen, shares a story about growing up and attending a school where most of the students were black, while she herself is white. She also shares a personal story about a time her husband felt singled out because of his race, and how she regretted her initial response to his discomfort.
