The HeartWorks Team Offers Two Ways to Lend a Hand

Our HeartWorks Team is running two important projects right now: Make A Difference Day On Saturday, October 24th, from 9 AM to 3 PM The HeartWorks Team will be in the Marchwood Shopping Center for a drive-through grocery drop off. They will be accepting bags of non perishable food items. This drive through will be safe and socially-distanced, but we are also asking everyone to wear a mask for the safety of all involved. Teen Game Nights at WellSprings

Did you know…? Twice a month, our YouthBridge Ministry has been planning and holding virtual game nights for WellSpringers between the ages of 13 and 17. This is a great opportunity for our teens to take a break from distance learning and hectic schedules, and get some (virtual) face time with friends. While games are the main focus, there is always some great conversation sparked by current events, or anything on our teens’ minds. Our next Teen Game Nights have…

WellSprings Works to Get Out the Vote

So far, in the lead-up to the extremely important 2020 election, Wellsprings members have sent over 400 letters to registered voters encouraging them to vote this election.   Several of our members have signed up to be poll watchers – folks who volunteer their time on election day to observe the polls, and make sure voters encounter no issues.   Members are also devoting their time to phone and text banks, encouraging marginalized voters to make their voices heard.   Have you done…

Fall Message Series: “The Cloud Over Everything”

This Sunday, Rev. Ken begins our new message series for Fall: “The Cloud Over Everything.” With little warning, 2020 brought us loss upon loss. Grief is among the most reliable of human experiences, yet it’s rarely discussed in the open – or held and healed in common. In our Fall message series, we’ll explore how to cope with grief, and move through some of its best-known qualities like anger, sadness, denial, bargaining, and acceptance. We’ll gather under the cloud and look up, remembering that…

JusticeWorks Joins the Vote Forward Campaign

Sending a Vote Forward letter is one of the easiest things you can do to increase voter turnout. It takes two minutes and one stamp, and meaningfully increases the odds that the recipient will vote. The letter is a concrete action you can take, no matter where you live, to get fellow citizens who might be unlikely-to-vote, to the polls. Fellow WellSpringers have already been writing letters, and we’d love to get more people involved. Vote Forward has a goal of…

Speaking Up and Showing Up Against Racism

In 2020, we’ve seen a huge new wave of national attention focused on racial justice. More people are waking up to the need for deep, spiritually rooted and systemic change, and are wondering what they can do. This small group will be different than most at WellSprings. Recognizing the long-term nature of this work, we will gather twice monthly from September through February for both discussion and practice sessions. In between sessions, participants will be asked to read, watch, and…

WellSprings Canned Food Drive

Our HeartWorks Team is running a canned food drive, with a social distancing twist. Shop when you can, buy what you can, and drop off at a local food bank of your choice. Here’s the complete message from HeartWorks: HELP DONATE CANNED FOOD AND NON-PERISHABLE ITEMS THROUGH THE MONTH OF AUGUST                              Goal:  A Community Food & Fundraising effort to support people facing hunger and the food banks who help them.  [thermometer] So far we have raised $[therm_r] towards our $[therm_t] target! That’s [therm_%] of…

Send Us A Shout!

Summer is here, which means WellSprings youth and WellSpringers of all ages have many opportunities to get outside and have fun. While our kids aren’t connecting in person right now, we are still doing a lot to keep kids connected. Our YouthSpirit Meetings happen every Sunday at 9 am, our Teen Game Nights happen a few times every month, and we recently offered a Netflix watch party for a Spiritflix family feature. And we still hold space for our young…

Gifts for Chester County Futures’ Grads

Despite graduations postponed and senior years disrupted, our long time community partner, Chester County Futures (CCF), has continued to provide services to teens in our community. As part of this ongoing initiative, CCF planned to deliver a gift filled with goodies to each graduating senior, as they move on to their next endeavors. Our goal was twofold: 1. Provide every CCF senior (that’s 47 young adults) with a $20 gift card.2. Provide every CCF senior with a handmade graduation card.…

WellSprings HeartWorks Team Delivers Care Packages to Six Local Nursing Homes

We know that long-term and congregate care facilities have been especially hard-hit by the ongoing Covid-19 crisis. With this in mind, the WellSprings HeartWorks Team came up with a way to help show our appreciation to the workers on the front lines, caring for some of our most vulnerable neighbors. The call went out for donations, and within four hours, the HeartWorks Team had received everything they needed to create care packages for the workers at local nursing homes. These included…

New Message Series: “Love the Hell Out of This World”

This Sunday, Rev. Ken begins our new message series for May: “Love the Hell Out of this World.” WellSprings’ spiritual heritage comes from two distinct traditions – Unitarianism and Universalism – that merged halfway through the last century. From Universalism, we take the belief that this whole world, and everyone in it, is worth saving. No exceptions. A faith that believes in the belovedness of all people is especially important, in these difficult days. How do we live out this faith with…
